A “Grocery Tax Task Force”? Why?

This is the dumbest thing this week…

Seriously?

Let me help…

Alabama taxes groceries, most states don’t.

It raises between $400-$500 million dollars.

Poor people have less money but eat roughly the same amount of food, it hits them harder.

Everyone agrees this tax hits everyone.

Some want to repeal it and replace it with the removal of an income tax deduction.

Wealthier people get this deduction, as they make more money.

Liberals are fine with this tax increase because it ONLY hits the right people.

The idea of swapping one tax for another has failed for a decade.

A new-ish idea is now being floated to eliminate it outright but that will cost the state $400-$500 million in tax revenue.

Democrats want that money.

There ya go. Decide.

This goes nowhere.
