Is ESPN hurting in the era of Trump?

People in America are pissed, they are tired of being called racist, sexist, homophobic or whatever buzzwords we use to silence our enemies. They are espcially tired of hearing it from the place they go for sports…

  • Caitlyn Jenner
  • Micheal Sam
  • #BlackLivesMatter
  • Colin Kaepernick

All these issues are divisive and the Leftist’s worldview was jammed down the throat of ESPN’s viewers on each issue, and it feels like NO ONE was there to represent the view of your average American that this stuff is overblown and kinda weird.

Is ESPN paying for that?

It’s probably worth noting that the precipitous decline in subscriptions comes amid criticism that ESPN has become too political in recent years. The sports network raised eyebrows in April, for example, when it fired former major league pitcher and commentator Curt Schillingafter he posted a cartoon to Facebook criticizing the pro-transgender side of the bathroom law debate.

“Before that, it was ESPN’s decision to present the recently-transitioned Caitlyn Jenner with its annual Arthur Ashe Courage Award — considered ‘one of the most prestigious in sports’ — that sparked controversy,” Parker Lee wrote for IJ Review in an article titled, “How ESPN Went From America’s Sport Network to That Guy in the Bar Who Won’t Shut Up About Politics.”

I am not a fan of silencing debate but ESPN seems to almost exclusively cater to the liberal view and they have become the sports world’s MSNBC. They either need to shut up about politics or diversify their opinions.

The sports world represented by ESPN has the same problem the mainstream media has, run by liberals for liberals.

It’s fine to disagree with your audience. But when you pretend half of them don’t exist, you run the risk of running them off.

If they keep their live sports, people will tune in but it’s the rest of their programming that people are tuning out.
