For the first time in more than a quarter-century, voters in north Huntsville have chosen a new voice to represent them on the city council.
Councilman Richard Showers, seeking an 8th term on the council, lost Tuesday to Devyn Keith in the District 1 runoff.
Keith won in a landslide, collecting 69 percent of the vote in unofficial results.
We all saw that coming.
What we didn’t see is this…
You know it’s a disappointing night for Showers when he loses a voting precinct at the recreational center that bears his name. Keith got 316 votes at the Dr. Richard Showers Center while Showers got just 154 votes.
Reminder: Richard Showers needed to go a long time ago.
