Clinton 1 – Trump 0: 30 good minutes for Trump, a blowout win for Clinton…

In totality this was a bloodbath. Period.

On the issues, voters who watched broadly say Clinton would do a better job handling foreign policy, 62% to 35%, and most think she would be the better candidate to handle terrorism, 54% to 43% who prefer Trump. But on the economy, the split is much closer, with 51% saying they favor Clinton’s approach vs. 47% who prefer Trump.

Most debate watchers came away from Monday’s face-off with doubts about Trump’s ability to handle the presidency. Overall, 55% say they didn’t think Trump would be able to handle the job of president, 43% said they thought he would. Among political independents who watched the debate, it’s a near-even split, 50% say he can handle it, 49% that he can’t.

But for the first 30 minutes Trump was fine. He spoke about the economy, trade, career politicians and he destroyed her attempt to claim she made a mistake on her e-mail server.

When cornered at times, Mr. Trump tried to shift the subject, criticizing Mrs. Clinton for using a private email server as secretary of state.

“I made a mistake using a private email,” Mrs. Clinton said.

“That’s for sure,” Mr. Trump said.

“And if I had to do it over again, I would, obviously, do it differently,” she added.

Mr. Trump would not let it go. “That was more than a mistake — that was done purposely,” he said. “When you have your staff taking the Fifth Amendment, taking the Fifth, so they’re not prosecuted, when you have the man that set up the illegal server taking the Fifth, I think it’s disgraceful.”

The last 60 minutes it was a disaster.

She baited him about loans, his taxes and bankruptcies and justifying his comments on women. On the last point, the slam about “Miss Housekeeping”, he had nothing and.towards the end he was rambling about Rosie O’Donnell.

In one of the most powerful moments of tonight’s debate, Republican nominee Donald Trump tried to interrupt his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, as she recounted how, as head of the Miss Universe Pageant, he had insulted Miss Venezuela, a woman named Alicia Machado. Clinton said Trump had called Machado “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping.”

“Where did you find this?” Trump challenged Clinton three times as she spoke, suggesting that it was not true.

But it was true. Over Trump’s interruptions, Clinton revealed the woman’s name, and added, “She has become a US citizen, and you can bet she is going to vote.”

“OK good,” Trump replied.

What could of been?

Bad for everyone…

How do you think Trump thinks he did?

Unofficial polls (online polls)…

Real world…

CNN’s poll shows 62 percent of those who watches the first debate felt that Hillary Clinton won, while only 27 percent said that Trump was the victor. A separate poll from PPP, meanwhile, also gave a win to Clinton, by a 51-40 margin.

Does this sound like a winner?

All that said, Lester Holt did allow Hillary Clinton to skate, but so did Trump. Hillary baited him on taxes, Iraq, his dad giving him money.

This was a bloodbath.

They  know it

Donald Trump should skip the next two debates unless he gets special guarantees from the moderators, former New York mayor and top Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani told reporters after the debate.

Lester Holt, the NBC News anchor who moderated the debate, should be “ashamed of himself,” Giuliani said after the debate. He said Holt was wrong to attempt to fact-check Trump on the constitutionality of stop-and-frisk and his claimed opposition to the Iraq War.

“If I were Donald Trump I wouldn’t participate in another debate unless I was promised that the journalist would act like a journalist and not an incorrect, ignorant fact checker,” Giuliani said. “The moderator would have to promise that there would be a moderator and not a fact checker and in two particular cases an enormously ignorant, completely misinformed fact checker.”

“If you wonder why Donald Trump thinks that the press is a left-wing basically oriented group, Lester Holt proved it tonight,” he added.

He later clarified about future debates: “I didn’t say what I’m advising him, I said what I would do.”
