Stop me if you have heard this before, Huntsville City Councilman Richard Showers is a con man…

I told you

I told you, again…

Thought so

More questions than answers at a public meeting Tuesday night to reveal plans for a major development in Huntsville’s District One. But promoters made it clear the future of the project is tied to the re-election of Councilman Richard Showers.

The meeting was billed as a chance to expose a proposed billion dollar development in Northwest Huntsville. It quickly became clear the only thing that would be exposed was there was nothing to expose.

“This is all suggestive, for 2012,” according to spokesperson Ocie Maddox Jr. He added, “They presented it before the council and guess what? They’ve been waiting. Meanwhile, what’s on south parkway?”

Maddox confirmed the architect’s renderings and even the map on display at the meeting did not reflect plans for Huntsville. It’s representative of what Huntsville was supposedly offered some years ago.

“As soon as we put on there that there was a convention center. It’s on there, it’s on there. And there everybody, well there’s one in Phoenix. Listen, when I was a civil engineer, HOK was number one on the world. Ladies it’s just like if you want a Paul Harris dress.”

The image on the display is the Phoenix Convention Center. And it just went downhill from there.

((argument between two women))

“Y’all gotta stop playing the race card.”

“Who is y’all? Who is y’all?”

“You!”

“We’re not playing the race card.”

“Yes, you are.”

“We’re not playing the race card.”

“I heard you.”

“We’re not playing the race card.”

In the end, there was nothing new revealed about a proposed development in Northwest Huntsville, just accusations of racism that have prevented development in Northwest Huntsville.

Councilman Showers was there but only spoke briefly to discuss donations from a local political action committee.
