Who ever put this ad together is just an awful person…What is amazing is the details around the comments in the ad…
Here’s the problem: The CSGV has done some selective editing in its video. In its version of the ad, Barrow displays a pistol and says:
“Long before I was born, my grandfather used this little Smith & Wesson here….”
It cuts the Augusta congressman off there. How did Barrow finish the sentence in the original, and what did the CSGV choose to omit? This:
”…to help stop a lynching.”
Yep, the gun was used to stop a lynching. To prevent a crime. But the implication is Barrow is a gun toting nutcase, like all gun owners in the eyes of Democrats.
And to play the race card one more time… The dumbasses at LeftinAlabama, without the slightest bit of irony, mention lynching as well.
To attack Sheriff Blake Dorning…
Let’s visit those not-so-thrilling days of yesteryear, why don’t we….
- Lynching. Now, murder has always been against the law, but Southern law enforcement officials ignored that fact when it came to lynching. Southern politicians prevented the passage of a federal anti-lynching law and the US Office of Civil Rights (part of the DOJ) obtained its first lynching conviction in 1964 after a lynching in Florida.
- Hate Crimes: We have federal hate crimes laws because – once again – local officials have had a tendency to ignore crimes committed against marginalized groups: GLBT, Native Americans, minority religions, etc.
The President cannot get the two major revisions unless Congress signs off, but Sheriff Dorning said even if they do, Washington is not his final authority.
Um… yes it is.
George Wallace. Schoolhouse Door. Enough Said.
They just can’t help themselves.
Oh yeah, on guns and race crimes of the past…
The fear of blacks with guns was one of the reasons behind the Supreme Court’s notorious decision in the Dred Scott case. Chief Justice Roger Taney’s opinion insisted that blacks could not be citizens because, if they were, they’d have all the protections of the Bill of Rights, including the right to “full liberty of speech… to hold public meetings on political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went.”
America’s most horrific racist organization, the Ku Klux Klan, began with gun control at the very top of its agenda. Before the Civil War, blacks in the South had never been allowed to possess guns. During the war, however, blacks obtained guns for the first time. Some served as soldiers in black units in the Union Army, which allowed its men, black and white, to take their guns home with them as partial payment of past due wages. Other Southern blacks bought guns in the underground marketplace, which was flooded with firearms produced for the war.
Just some perspective for our race-baiting friends..

So, it’s OK if Congressman Barrow uses an antidote about lynching in defense of his anti gun control position, but it’s race baiting if Left in Alabama uses it as an example of Madison County Sheriff Blake Dornings “total chutzpah to think that he has the authority to choose which laws he’ll follow and which laws he won’t.”?
The first is historical fact and it’s relevant. As for the second instance. Dorning’s stupid comment has nothing to do with race. So to answer your question, yes.
No, the lynching example Left in Alabama used is a historical fact. The lynching example the Congressman used is an antidote.
No, Barrow’s narrative about guns preventing crime. They cut out that part and made him a “gun nut”.
Mrs. “Everyone is racist” should love that guy.
Take another crack.
Guns enabled more lynchings than they prevented.
Probably true, which is why the KKK wanted gun control. Criminals don’t follow the law. Thanks for making my point.
Huh?
The KKK already had guns, they wanted the guns of law abiding black citizens rounded up and confiscated so they would be easier to oppress.
^^^^Most intelligent thing you have ever said.
Disarm whitey, and Whitey, in particular anyone a member of certain organizations.
Americans are not afraid that their government is going to plot and kill them due to the color of their skin.
Meme fail. Meme fail. Meme fail.
They aren’t? They fear the racist government when Republicans run it…
Which leads to another topic, maybe you guys shouldn’t love big government because you might not always be in control.
Shut up.
There will never be an armed uprising by citizens of the USA.
The 2nd is about as useful today as a musket.
Tyranny is not being kept at bay by a few guns at home in the closet.
Americans just like killing. HSV has 20,000 folks employed in the pursuit of building better killing machines.
You make some solid argument. thank you for participating.
The 2nd Amendment is the law of the land,
Don’t like it? Change it.
You can’t.
Maybe you don’t understand that 300 million guns acts as a deterrent to tyranny, real or imagined.
Change is what is happening.
Slow…steady….sometimes imperceptible.
The tax code didnt grow to 17,000 pages overnight, and the 2nd wont be rewrote after just a few school shootings. After a few more mass shootings, the majority will be demanding strict, draconian gun control and ammo control.
“Disarm whitey, and Whitey, in particular anyone a member of certain organizations.”
Really? You wish the government to seize my legal property, and the members of certain organizations. Kinda like Hitler did before he rounded up the Jews. Whatever, you hate guns, we get it. My guns, however, are none of your business and if you don’t want to participate in the rights conferred by the second amendment feel free not to.
We will only seize the weapons from members of subversive organizations, like the NRA, the KKK and the Black Panthers.
Me wanting your guns seized doesnt mean I hate guns, thats a logic disconnect, nor that I want yours, I already own about 6, I’m not sure of the number cause I havent seen a couple of them in a few years.
Who defines what is a subversive organization?
Popular vote using same tech as “American Idol”.
Please do some research… Obama signed nothing that Dornng needs to enforce. Obama punted to Congress, who will do nothing. (See:Harry Reid)
President Obama announces 23 Executive Actions ask Congress to pass gun laws.
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2013/01/16/obama-to-announce-gun-control-proposals-shortly/
Try again, which one of the “actions” not orders by the way is Dorning enforcing?
Help me out, Redeye.
You answered the wrong question. Which executive orders are in the job desription of a sherriff? Reading comprehension isn’t your thing.
Putting the NRA on equal footing with the KKK and Black panthers is laughable as is your ever shifting stance on the 2nd amendment. Your main argument a few days ago was that we should confiscate all guns and bring the army stateside and put a soldier on every corner.
I’m always willing to compromise.
As Dale pointed out, rewriting the 2nd immediately is not politically feasible, it must be done in small bites.
DoJ is surveilling all the right wings groups already. They know which ones are in need of gun confiscation.
Define compromise. Usually it means both sides give a little and come to an agreement. This compromise is more akin to, you have 100 bucks and we want it all, but we’ll compromise and only take 50, go ahead and thank us. What are you personally willing to do to compromise on this issue? I am not willing to compromise on my principles. What other constitutional rights are you willing to compromise on? or is the 2nd amendment the only one?
And yes the 2nd amendment will be rewritten in small bites which is why we must oppose every one. Every little bite isn’t the end, just the next step. It’s the progressives’ method on most things.
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Madison County is under a dusk-till-dawn curfew until power is restored to the area, Sheriff Blake Dorning ordered Thursday.
Law enforcement is “out in full force” after Wednesday’s storm, Dorning said, but authorities are asking for the community’s help in keeping Madison County safe during the disaster recovery.
“This is not an effort to infringe on your rights; it’s a safety issue,” Dorning said. “We need the whole community working together.”
Huntsville City Council is planning to vote tonight to approve the curfew established by Dorning.
As emergency officials work search-and-rescue efforts across the county, law enforcement officials said no one would be allowed into damaged areas until recovery efforts are complete. Only people with proper identification, like a driver’s license with an address in that neighborhood, will be allowed into damaged areas.

What if people decided they were going to ignore the curfew because they didn’t agree with it?
Law enforcement will stop them.
What is so confusing?
The point is President Obama has the authority and the power to implement Executive Orders and Executive actions in the interest of public safety just like Sheriff Dorning did in the aftermath of the tornadoes. Sheriff Dorning has neither the authority nor the power to decide which Executive Orders/Actions he will enforce.
Apparently he does.
Says who? Says what?
How about you get some laws passed and then demand he enforce them. Getting all upset over his comments is silly, considering Obama laid a giant egg the other day.
How about President Obama already signed some Executive Orders/Actions, if Sheriff Dorning refuses to enforce them he will have to face the consequences. We will see if he values his job more than than he disagrees with the President.
Which specific executive order do you think he even has the power to enforce or not. He may very well refuse to appoint a head of the ATF but other than that, I don’t really see any of them applying to him or his duties.
Sheriff Dorning said Washinton was not his final authority.
The reference was to God.
Dorning said he wasn’t going to enforce anything he felt violated the Constirution.
So you can’t answer the simple question? Great.
So you are asking me what orders/actions the sheriff won’t enforce because he feels they violate the Constituion?
No moron, I am asking you which of those he could enforce.
Quit using your stupidity as a weapon.
Why are you asking me which ones Dorning can choose to enforce?
Because there is nothing in Obama “actions” for Dorning to enforce and you are too stupid to see that.
Well what is Dorning talking about then?
Future laws, my point is you don’t understand what Obama did and you proved that.
I understand President Obama issued 23 Executive Actions. I understand there will be consequences for Sheriff Dorning if and when he Dorning decides he is going to ignore/not enforce any of the Executive Actions or any future laws passed by Congress. This is one of those rare times I agree with Whitey;
“Dorning is saying, stupidly, that he will not go and round up privately owned currently legal weapons, if Obama were to issue an executive order to that effect.”
Typo should read~ I understand President Obama issued 23 Executive Actions. I understand there will be consequences for Sheriff Dorning if and when he (Dorning) decides he is going to ignore/not enforce any of the Executive Actions or any future laws passed by Congress.
Only took you 8 hours to get it, congrats…
The President failed his base, good for him.
Dorning is saying, stupidly, that he will not go and round up privately owned currently legal weapons, if Obama were to issue an executive order to that effect. Stuff like that. The executive orders Obama actually issued will be ignored by almost everyone because they are just a bunch of tasks that the president is supposed to do anyway. Appoint a head of the ATF? Start a national dialog? Direct the center for disease control? These are things the president does. He executive ordered himself for most of the list. Sherriff Dorning’s job description doesn’t include any of the executive orders, he couldn’t diobey them if he tried.
