The US Postal Service is in trouble again, and has been for some time.
Instead of merely throwing more money at the problem, I would change the delivery and do it on an every other day schedule. some get mail on M-W-F and the rest get it on Tu-Th- Sa.
With email, internet, and delivery services like Fedex I never get anything in the mail for which delivery one day later would really matter. What made sense for my grandmother is not making any sense now. Let’s modernize and stop wasting so much money.

Completely agree!
Snail mail is pretty much dead. We only need delivery/office hours Mon, Wed, and Fri.
How long are they going to prop up the horse & buggy?
* Sigh* Name one function of the federal government that you republicans like.
For the federal government please see Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution.
I especially like the parts on national defense – had problems learning German, and Russian, Japanese, and Chinese are even more difficult languages to learn. The feds have saved me a great inconvenience.
I also like what the federal government has done with highways. Of course its pricier than it should be and fraught with cronyism. But compared to the rest of the world it has been done well and has been good for our economy and standard of living. But even at that, its a big stretch on the enumerated powers.
State government can pretty much do whatever it likes, but states are constrained because they cannot print money and because its easy for citizens to leave if things get out of hand. Example, California.
The great problems of American government are resource allocation and cronyism. We need more discipline with the first and a lots less of the latter.
Cali is the state that should secede…they send $60billion more in revenue to the feds than they get back every year… the state economy would rank in the top ten economies of all nations in the world.
The USPO just needs to go to a fee for service model such that it doesnt cost the same to send a letter across town as it does across country.
If CA leaves we would gain a lot of businesses, e.g., much of the defense work would have to relocate to the other 49.
We could use Portland and Seattle so we would not need the ports of Long Beach and LA.
This would be a good shot in the arm for the federal budget because the US would not have to pay a lot of military and federal retirees, and Medicare, Medicaid, and social security beneficiaries.
I’m not seeing a down side here.
CA would have to pay for things like state defense and is drowning in state debt. They would have to give up the electricity from Hoover Dam and and a lot of water from the Colorado River. I doubt they will secede.
So the only part of the federal government you like is defense and the federal highways?
No. I did not write that. I know I am not a great writer, but I do the best I can. Sometimes my writing can be improved by other people inserting words that I did not write. I do not think this is one of those times.
Please note that the word “only” is not contained in my post.
