General Admission is FreeAll qualified candidates have confirmed participation.
Prior to the debate, we will host a reception from 5:30-6:30pm.
Mayor battle’s son sent this e-mail out to supporters…
The qualifying period for the Mayor’s race closed yesterday afternoon and we now know what we are up against. We’re moving into the best part of the campaign – where we get to discuss issues facing our community and what we’ve been able to accomplish so far.
My dad will outline his vision to keep moving Huntsville forward at a debate at 7pm Monday night at the Grissom High School auditorium. We need you to attend and show your support for a responsible, accountable vision for our community moving forward.
This is the only debate being planned where both of our opponents will show up to discuss the issues. As intended by the hosts of this event, many of the questions posed will be emotional in nature and may delude the effectiveness of discussing the facts. We need you there to show your support of a fact-based discussion focused on how we will keep our community moving forward.

It’s condescending and implies the folks involved are irrational and crazy.
While, I have had many disagreements with the SHCA, this kind flip comment does not help the Battle campaign at all.

I apologize to our members for the need to include the derogatory insinuations made in the email below. We will proceed with our plans to host a fair debate. Whether facts, fiction or emotions are presented will be determined by the candidates.

Question: Why is The Huntsville Housing Authority such a crappy issue for former Mayor Loretta Spencer’s campaign?
Easy. Loretta appointed that HHA Board and leadership. How does she attack her own Board in this campaign. Can’t. Won’t work. Battle is working with what she gave him.

Bull Poop. That’s your spin. Everybody know the South Huntsville Civic (sic) Association is mad at the Huntsville Housing Authority for relocating some of the residents of Council Courts to Dixie, I mean South Huntsville.
You’re talking about the issue, I’m talking about Drew Battle’s comments…
Like father, like son….Battle(s) doesnt think there is a real issue there.
What is the real issue there George?
A public agency that is acting against the will of the people and their elected officials.
Oh, so relocating residents of public housing from down ttown to South Huntsville is operating against the will of the people but relocating the Downtown rescue to a low income residential area in north Huntsville is not ?
Try to focus, those issues are not even close to analogous.
HHA was operating in secrecy, SB 205 changed that and they want to roll that back. HSV City Council has other requirements that they follow.
